Why convert TIFF to PNG?

PNG is the sensible target when the TIFF has to stay pixel-exact: archival scans, artwork, anything with transparency, anything heading into an editor. It is lossless like TIFF but far more widely supported, and generally much smaller than an uncompressed one.

What changes when TIFF becomes PNG

Nothing is discarded. Transparency is preserved, and high-bit-depth material is not forced down to 8 bits the way JPEG would force it. As with any TIFF here, only the first page is converted. Expect a much smaller file than an uncompressed TIFF, and something broadly comparable to an LZW-compressed one.

Why this one is different

Every other TIFF to PNG converter uploads your files to their server, which is why they cap file sizes and ask you to sign up. This one does the work on your own machine, so it can afford not to.

Questions

How do I convert TIFF to PNG?

Drop your TIFF files onto the box above and each one is converted to PNG straight away. Then download the results, individually or together as a ZIP. There is no upload step and no account.

Is anything lost?

No. Both formats are lossless, so the pixels that come out are the pixels that went in. What you lose is TIFF-specific baggage — extra pages, and tags PNG has nowhere to put.

What about a CMYK TIFF from a print shop?

It is converted to RGB, because PNG has no CMYK mode. That is what you want for screen use. If the file is going back to a printer, keep the TIFF — the conversion to RGB is not something you should hand back to a press.

Do my files get uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything happens in this tab. Your files are never sent to a server, which is why this still works if you disconnect from the network after the page has loaded.
