Your files stay on your device. Visiting the website still involves web requests and site analytics. Here is what each part does.

Files and text

Image conversion, compression, video cutting and text cleanup run inside your browser. formatdeck does not upload the files you choose or the text you paste for processing. The tools download their code and, when needed, processing libraries before they can work.

Results stay in the tab until you save them. Downloaded files are stored wherever your browser saves downloads. Closing the tab releases the tool’s working copy; it does not delete your original files or downloads.

Metadata in your downloads

A format conversion is not always a metadata scrubber. Some image conversions retain EXIF, which can contain camera details, dates and GPS coordinates. Results report whether the output contains EXIF and an alpha channel. An alpha channel allows transparency; a white background means transparency was flattened.

New JPEGs produced by the size compressor omit EXIF and its GPS fields, while retaining an available colour profile. The HEIC decoder does not copy source EXIF into converted images. If the compressor returns an original file that already fits, that file’s metadata and transparency remain unchanged.

Website analytics

Cloudflare hosts and protects the site, receiving the web requests needed to serve it. Cloudflare Web Analytics measures visits and page performance. Google Analytics also runs on some pages to measure visits and actions such as conversion and download. It can store analytics cookies in your browser.

Our custom image events contain the tool mode, format pair and batch success or failure counts, not filenames or file contents. The text tools do not load Google Analytics or send pasted text to analytics. Cloudflare measurement is configured separately at the hosting layer.

Your Google Analytics preference

You can turn off Google Analytics for formatdeck in this browser. The preference is saved on this device and applies to future page loads; reload any other formatdeck tabs after changing it. It does not control Cloudflare measurement or remove cookies already stored.
