WebP to PNG Converter
Convert WebP — small files, supported everywhere on the web — into PNG, lossless, and it keeps transparency. Runs entirely in your browser.
Why convert WebP to PNG?
Pick PNG when the WebP has transparency, or when it is a screenshot, diagram or logo rather than a photograph. It is the format you want if the image is heading into an editor, a slide deck or a document and you would rather stop thinking about compression artefacts.
What changes when WebP becomes PNG
Transparency is kept intact. A lossy WebP does not become sharper by being stored losslessly — whatever VP8 discarded stays discarded — but nothing further is given up from here. Expect several times the size for a photograph, and something comparable or smaller for flat-colour graphics.
Why this one is different
Every other WebP to PNG converter uploads your files to their server, which is why they cap file sizes and ask you to sign up. This one does the work on your own machine, so it can afford not to.

Questions
How do I convert WebP to PNG?
Drop your WebP files onto the box above and each one is converted to PNG straight away. Then download the results, individually or together as a ZIP. There is no upload step and no account.
Will the PNG look better than the WebP?
It will look the same. PNG is lossless, which protects the image from here on; it cannot undo compression already applied when the WebP was made.
Why PNG rather than JPG?
Transparency, and text. PNG keeps an alpha channel, and it does not smear the edges of letters and thin lines the way JPEG does at ordinary quality settings.
Do my files get uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything happens in this tab. Your files are never sent to a server, which is why this still works if you disconnect from the network after the page has loaded.
